Participant Experience

Studying animal sculpture under Gülnar Babayeva's guidance has been an excellent experience. Gülnar's patience stood out throughout the 6 week class, creating a relaxed atmosphere that allowed for mistakes and questions. Her kindness was evident in the supportive environment she fostered within the studio and I found it easy to ask questions. Gülnar's teaching style provided a solid foundation in sculpting techniques and materials, and I learned some new armature skills! I highly recommend Gülnar to anyone seeking an effective sculpture teacher. My skills definitely leveled up.

I barely had any experience sculpting when I signed up for the hand sculpting class. I wasn't confident I'd be able to produce anything that resembled a hand. However, Gülnar made it easy to follow along and broke the process down into achievable steps. If I got stuck or confused she would offer advice on what I should focus on next. Gülnar was patient enough to let me make my own mistakes, but attentive enough to guide me in the right direction before I strayed too far off the path. I still have more room for improvement but I am happy with the end result for my 1st time sculpting a human hand.

I had the pleasure of taking a torso sculpture workshop with Gülnar. Her enthusiasm and passion for sculpture made the class a joy to take, while her knowledge, guidance and personalized feedback created a supportive, encouraging atmosphere where creativity flourished! Gülnar's approach and teaching made the process of learning thoroughly enjoyable while many sculpture skills were also learned!

Upon meeting Gülnar for the first time, I was immediately drawn to her quick wit and subtle brilliance. As our conversation continued, I became drawn to how she shared her uniquely soulful way of seeing the world. When she revealed she was a sculptor and a teacher, I knew I wanted to be her student. She shared a quick glimpse of her work and all of my first impressions made sense. I arrived in Gülnar’s vessel workshop with zero experience in hand building with clay. Turns out, showing up with a beginner’s mind to Gülnar’s class was the most amazing experience. Her kindness, patience, passion and organic way of sharing her craft and skill is simply extraordinary. Her keen vision combined with her ease of being made for a fantastic experience. I’m looking forward to more workshops and spending time with my new friend and teacher.

The ease of learning, the supportive environment, and the willingness to share the knowledge and resources. Just a remarkable setting for an easy introduction to the studio and sculpting.
